On Feb. 6, 2024 Mayor Tom Peterson introduced a preliminary discussion of a possible 2% meals tax and said he would refer the concept to the Town’s newly established Finance Committee for further study. Treasurer Lisa Wax offered to use Business, Professional and Occupational License (BPOL) data collected by March to help estimate revenue yield at the proposed rate.
The council did not vote on the tax. The item was recorded as a referral to committee for analysis and revenue estimation.
