Clifton council approves multiple use permits and rezones 7137 Main Street
Summary
The council approved several Planning Commission-recommended use permits — including an office for One Dwelling Inc., an animal clinic, and home additions — and voted to rezone 7137 Main Street from Industrial to Commercial and to pursue a feasibility study for selling the Pink House.
At its June 4 meeting the Clifton Town Council approved a slate of Planning Commission recommendations and took action on the Pink House property.
The council approved use permits recommended by the Planning Commission: One Dwelling Inc. to occupy office space at 12630 Chapel Road; a preliminary use permit for Sam Smith at 7156 Main Street for a construction project; a commercial/office use permit for the Animal Clinic of Clifton at 12702 Chapel Road for Robert and Ylva Ihrig; and a deck construction permit for the Keens at 12751 Chapel Street. Each motion passed by a 5-0 poll vote.
On a separate motion, Councilmember Effros moved to rezone 7137 Main Street (the Pink House) from Industrial to Commercial; that motion was approved by poll, 5-0. The council also authorized a feasibility study to explore selling 7137 Main Street and directed staff to pursue the necessary public hearing and rezoning steps if the study indicates sale is viable.
The Architectural Review Board reported approvals for decking at 12720 Clifton Heights Lane and for a dormer and outbuilding changes at 7156 Main Street; property owners await Fairfax County review for building permits. Royce Jarrendt reported he is acting as agent for Sam Smith.
