Clifton council appoints new clerk, changes town director title and approves events and routine financial items

The Clifton Town Council handled several administrative items on July 2, approving the appointment of Kerrie Gogoel as Town Clerk, accepting minutes and the Treasurer’s report, and formally changing the title of Laura Jane Cohen from Town Director to Town Administrator.
Councilmember Steve Effros moved to appoint Kerrie Gogoel as Town Clerk; Vice Mayor Regan McDonald seconded and the motion passed 5-0. The Council approved the minutes as circulated and unanimously approved the Treasurer’s report. Mayor Tom Peterson moved and CM Effros seconded a motion to change Laura Jane Cohen’s title; the motion was approved by poll, 5-0.
Other items: Mayor Peterson formally requested the Clifton Business Association consider funding painting and indoor restoration of the town caboose; Jeff Stein said Michelle Stein would raise it at the CBA’s August meeting. The Council also agreed to Clifton Day on Oct. 13, 2024 (motion approved 5-0), discussed a proposed change to the Villagio/Town parking‑lot ingress to reduce vehicles stopping on the railroad tracks and heard a filming request from the Christian Broadcasting Network, which would include drone footage; no objections or permits were required for the proposed drone operations.
The meeting concluded with an adjournment motion and a unanimous poll to end the session.
