In one contested matter the court found a violation true and revoked community supervision for Tony Barrera, sentencing him to three years in prison and ordering no contact with specified individuals and referral to a therapeutic community. Barrera, addressing the court, said family tragedies left him depressed and contributed to his failure to report; the court responded that disappearance from supervision is unacceptable: "Nobody's seen you... In another case the court found Sandra Torres had failed to report as required and granted the State’s motion, revoked supervision, and sentenced her to three years in prison while ordering treatment referrals and restrictions on employment with vulnerable populations. The judge explicitly told the defendant this court would not allow someone on probation for drug offenses to work as a home-health provider or with minors, saying the limitation was to protect the community.
The court also accepted plea-based dispositions on a group of consolidated cause numbers that included deferred adjudication and probated sentences tied to treatment: the record shows transfers to felony drug court for in-custody evaluation, multiple reporting and monitoring conditions, hundreds of hours of community service restitution in some cases, parenting classes, sober-support meetings and field visits. For one multi-count matter the court imposed simultaneous conditions across counts including suspended sentences to be probated for ten years and specific treatment referrals.
Other docket items: the court granted a defense request to change full house arrest to tracking-only monitoring for Kenneth Wayne Cloud with set hours to allow work; several defendants who did not appear were the subject of judge’s warrants remanding them without bond; and the court set multiple plea-deadline and disposition dates for later hearings.
The court closed the morning session by recessing for lunch and scheduling afternoon calls and jury settings for specific cases.
