Resident tells commission Verizon is 'lying' about need for proposed 89th Street cell tower

Patty Hall, a Kenosha resident, used the citizens' comment period to urge cooperation among local agencies and to oppose a proposed cell phone tower near 89th Street and 34th Avenue.
Hall said the issue has gained momentum: she told the commission the Kenosha City Council passed a resolution on the matter, the Kenosha County legislative committee had passed a similar resolution through Supervisor John Morrissey and that the matter was expected to go before the County Board. "I just encourage everybody to work together with the different agencies," Hall said. "And Verizon's lying to you about the need for it."
No village staff action on the proposed tower was recorded during the meeting and no representative for the mobile provider addressed the commission. The comment was made during the general public-comment portion of the agenda; the commission took no vote or formal action on the cell-tower topic at this meeting.
Hall also said she had spoken with the mayor and mentioned local officials Sarinder Baldwin and Bridal Steele as contacts involved in the issue. The commission did not provide a response on the record during the meeting.
