St. Peter City Council authorizes ISG to study public works operations with year-end goal

The St. Peter City Council on July 13 approved a resolution authorizing ISG of Mankato to complete a public works optimization services study intended to guide repairs, space use and program efficiencies over the next 15–20 years.
Pete, a city staff member involved in the solicitation, told council members the city received four proposals and conducted three virtual interviews before selecting ISG as the top candidate. He said the selected firm provided a project-management schedule that met the council’s timeline and offered past performance references the city checked.
"Our goal is to be done by the end of the year," Pete said, describing a four-phase plan in which phases 1 and 2 would be developed over July–September, a shared-vision step in October and final recommendations in November–December.
Council members pressed staff on cost and timing. A council member noted the proposal packet lists a total cost range of about $83,000–$95,000, and Pete said the city’s intent is to work with the selected firm to refine scope and seek efficiencies to keep spending “around $75,000 or under” if possible.
The chair introduced the resolution on packet page 25, a motion to approve was made and seconded, a roll call was taken with council members recorded as voting "Aye," and the chair announced the motion carried and the resolution was approved.
Next steps: staff and ISG will begin work on phases 1–2 in July–August, return to council with progress in October, and present final recommendations later in the year. The council asked staff to schedule an ISG presentation at a future workshop.
