Aberdeen approves Juneteenth parade route, festival payouts and summer event calendar

Alderwoman Rhonda Moore led the board through several festival-related payments and logistics items. The board approved remaining balances totaling several thousand dollars to performers and vendors from the Aberdeen Blue and White Festival account, including payments of $6,500 to Marcellus the Singer and smaller balances to other contracted performers and vendors. The board approved festival cleanup assistance by the street department and requested police support for both days of the Blue and White Festival.
Visitor Bureau Director Tina Robbins briefed the board on the city’s June event calendar: Market on the Green (June 6), Outdoor Movie at Paradise Alley (June 11), Prairie Fun Day (June 13), Lemonade Day (June 13), Blue Bluff River Run 5K (June 20), Farm Day at Extension (June 20), and the Blue and White Festival (June 26–27). The bureau also plans a farmers market every Friday through June and July.
The board voted to approve travel and training for elected officials and staff tied to these activities, including authorization for Mayor Stevens, Alderman James Ivory and Alderman John Cain to attend the 44th Annual TN Tombigbee Waterway Conference (Aug. 12–14, 2026), and City Administrator Teresa Baker-Young to attend the Mississippi Municipal League conference (June 28–July 2, 2026) with registration and hotel fees of $1,130.00.
What’s next: the board scheduled follow-up operational support for festival logistics and left the festival-account payments to be completed from the designated account.
