Freeman recognizes student leaders, state champions and arts honors

At its Dec. 8 meeting the Freeman board highlighted student leaders of the month, all-district/all-state athletic honors, a volleyball state championship, theater awards and school artists across grade levels.
Freeman Public Schools used the board meeting on Dec. 8 to recognize a wide range of student achievements from athletics to the arts.
The board’s Freeman Falcon Spotlight highlighted fall sports teams that qualified for state-level competition, noting cross-country, softball and the volleyball team, which is listed as state champions in the meeting record. Individual student honors were recorded: football all-district selections including Easton Buss and Owen Buss; volleyball honors including Alicia Johansen and Addison Kastanek among others; and softball all-conference recognitions. Theater and choir participants and ‘Artists of the Week’ across elementary grades were also named.
The recognitions were presented as commendations rather than action items; the board recorded the list of students and teams in the meeting minutes to acknowledge accomplishments across athletics, performing arts and classroom activities.
The meeting did not include extended discussion or debate about the recognitions; they were presented as part of the opening procedures and commendations.
