Grants and downtown projects: Community Development Manager Alma Bayad said the downtown historic redevelopment grant for 353'361 Broad Street had documented $1,216 in additional costs, making the eligible reimbursement $608 (50% of the additional cost), and EEDC recommended approval of the amendment. Staff also presented a façade improvement application for 374 Broad Street (the Shops on Broad), a $22,638 project with a requested city reimbursement of up to $10,000; EEDC recommended approval and committees carried the motion to authorize the application.
Contracts and procurement: Superintendent Stewart told committees the water reclamation facility's sludge cake disposal contract expires in October and staff will advertise for a one-year contract with two optional one-year renewals; the committee approved authorizing bids and contract execution.
Liens and demolitions: Building official Farkas reported asbestos abatement and demolition costs of $27,692 for 360 South Maple (removal $10,542; demolition $16,400) and committees approved placing liens for boarding, securing and demolition charges to be certified to the county auditor.
Cemetery funds and appropriations: Director Pulaski asked to transfer $84,748 in accumulated interest from the cemetery trust fund to the cemetery maintenance and improvement fund for Brookdale Cemetery projects; committees approved the transfer. Director Paleski also explained that the sanitation fund omitted payroll-related benefits in the 2026 appropriation and requested an additional $400,000 to cover PERS, FICA, Medicare and workers' compensation; committees approved the amendment to the permanent appropriations.
