Mercer council notes administrative updates: ERP update, CD renewal, bond renewal and payment fees

Mayor Thomsen and Auditor Kathrin Volochenko reviewed several administrative items at the Dec. 11 Mercer meeting. Kathrin Volochenko said Mary Jameson of the Midwest Assistance Program updated Mercer’s Emergency Response Plan; the ERP will be valid for five years.
Mayor Thomsen reported that CD #5645 was renewed on Dec. 1 at 3.66% APY and that the NDIRF blanket bond was renewed for two more years with no premium increase. Auditor Volochenko said the Gov Card monthly charge is $19.95 (about $240 per year) across seven accounts.
Mayor Thomsen described Bravera Online Bill Pay pricing: $5.00 for the first 20 remote checks or ACH payments per month, then $0.50 for each payment thereafter; the fee applies to business checking accounts. Council Member Erika Lorenz noted the city may need a separate auditor bond; Auditor Volochenko volunteered to check into that and presented a recorded document showing the city no longer holds a groundwater permit. There was no public comment during the meeting.
