Residents press for paving; council notes J‑turn for U.S. 41 and staff outlines winter preparations

Resident Linda Criswell asked the council about the sale of the old school and when streets would be paved; the minutes state "Auxilius was able to make good on their purchase," and council responded that paving will be "first thing next spring" and that two additional roads are scheduled.

Resident Lonnie Dudzik asked whether the speed limit could be reduced on U.S. 41, citing frequent accidents; council said it does not have jurisdiction over state highways but that a J‑turn is planned for next year to address safety. "Check your furnaces, gas heaters, and wood stoves before running them full force," Councilman Kyle Brost said, offering a seasonal fire-safety reminder. Marshal Michael Marquess reported department activity and said, "Trick or Treat was a safe evening with no calls of suspicion."

Water & Street Superintendent Jim Turner told the council crews have finished brush pickup, upgraded two water meters, completed a water-line inventory and are working to insulate meters for winter. Wastewater Superintendent Travis Barrett said the plant is being winterized: blowers were greased and oiled and the chlorine feed was shut off for the season.

Community groups announced holiday events: Christine Loveless of Restoring Hope outlined the Dec. 15 "I'll Be Home for Christmas" event (3 p.m.–7 p.m.) including a cookie bake-off, tree decorating, hay-wagon caroling, carriage rides and a tree lighting; Deb Wesley said Rotary will join the Boswell Library on Nov. 24 for "Christmas in Boswell" (3 p.m.–5 p.m.) with refreshments and a parade.

Councilman Kyle Brost asked residents to notify town hall if trash service is missed so Clerk-Treasurer Tracy Wortley can track missed pickups. The council recorded these items in the meeting minutes and adjourned.
