First Selectman Gordon Ridgway moved on May 15 to approve an $8,924,433 budget for the Town of Cornwall’s fiscal year that runs July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, and the motion passed unanimously.
Ridgway said insurance costs, contractual wage increases and higher utility rates were the main factors behind a 6.03% increase in the Board of Selectmen’s budget, and he presented the proposal as the Board of Finance’s recommendation. Joe Pryor seconded the motion to adopt the budget; the vote was unanimous.
The special meeting convened at 7:30 p.m. in the Cornwall Consolidated School Gathering Room. Scott Cady was elected moderator and Town Clerk Kathryn Lee read the official call of the meeting. About 16 townspeople attended.
After approving the budget, Ridgway moved to adjourn; Richard Bramley seconded. The meeting adjourned at 7:45 p.m. Kathryn Lee submitted the minutes as recorded.
