Zeeland Elections Commission approves roster of poll workers for Aug. 4 primary

The Zeeland Elections Commission approved the roster of election workers for the Aug. 4, 2026, primary election at its regular meeting on July 6.
The commission voted unanimously to appoint 23 workers across precinct assignments, early voting shifts, AVCB-only (absent voter counting board) shifts and receiving board duties. Attorney Donkersloot moved to approve the list and Mayor VanDorp supported the motion; all three members — Attorney Donkersloot, Mayor VanDorp and City Clerk Kristi DeVerney — voted in favor.
The approved precinct and early-voting personnel include Nancy Oskam, Pam VanDorp, Thom Parker, Amy Huizenga, Suzanne Barense, Jessica Whitehead, Nancy Boersen, Sara Donkersloot, JoAnn Morren, Betty Morren, Kathy Fylstra and Charlotte Worpel. AVCB-only workers approved were Karen Jipping, Kim Zuverink, Lindell Herrick and Chris Urbaniak. Receiving-board and early-voting-only appointees added at the meeting were Renee MacLaren and Kathie Kolean-VanLiere (receiving board only) and Deb Creswell, Peggy Mandrick, Carol Talsma, Tammy Barense and Sharon Lash (early voting only).
City Clerk Kristi DeVerney recorded the action in the meeting minutes. The commission’s approval completes staffing for Zeeland’s administration of the Aug. 4 primary; the meeting record does not list additional conditions or training requirements for the appointees.
The commission adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
