Fennimore council adopts 2026 budget and approves appropriation resolution

The Common Council of the City of Fennimore approved the 2026 city budget and passed Resolution 2025-11-17A at its Nov. 17, 2025 meeting, carrying both measures on 7-0 roll call votes.
Alderperson Josh Streif moved and Alderperson Day seconded approval of the budget; the council then approved the appropriation resolution to provide the funds necessary for city operations in 2026. The meeting record shows the motion to approve the budget and the resolution each passed unanimously.
Council members also approved the cityclaims presented for payment totaling $483,531.81, with a breakdown of City bills $79,677.46; Utility bills $181,948.58; Sewer bills $206,117.91; and Capital Projects $15,787.86. The minutes list two payroll runs that were approved: gross payroll for Oct. 31, 2025 of $63,700.39 (City $34,338.88; Utility $21,931.25; Sewer $7,430.26) and gross payroll for Nov. 14, 2025 of $64,765.23 (City $35,585.99; Utility $20,800.44; Sewer $8,378.80).
During the public hearing on the budget, which opened at 5:31 p.m., resident Margaret Sprague asked about a $300,000 line item for a library expansion. The council discussed where and how such funds might be obtained and determined the question would not change the 2026 budget as presented.
The counciladjourned at 6:27 p.m. after completing business. The budget and resolution will guide city spending and appropriations for 2026.
