Broken Bow council excuses absent member and unanimously approves consent agenda, including two fireworks permits

The Broken Bow City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to excuse an absent member and approve a consent agenda that included two fireworks permits during a short session at the Broken Bow Municipal Auditorium.

Mayor Rod Sonnichsen called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Councilmember David Schmidt moved to approve the absence of Councilmember David Baltz; Councilmember Larry Miller seconded. Schmidt, Miller and Councilmember Chris Myers voted aye; no councilmembers voted no. The motion carried to excuse David Baltz from the meeting.

Following the attendance motion, Mayor Sonnichsen read the format for submitting future agenda requests. The council then took up the consent agenda. Councilmember Larry Miller moved, and Councilmember David Schmidt seconded, to approve the consent agenda, which the motion described as including: approval of the minutes from the May 10, 2022 council meeting; bills as posted; the April treasurer's report; a fireworks application from Troy Wuehler; and a fireworks application from the Broken Bow Volunteer Fire Department. Miller, Schmidt and Myers voted aye and the motion carried.

Councilmember Chris Myers moved to adjourn the meeting; Councilmember David Schmidt seconded. A roll call vote recorded Schmidt, Myers and Miller voting aye and the council adjourned at 6:01 p.m. The minutes close with a signature line for Mayor Rod Sonnichsen and attestation by City Clerk Kandi K. Peters.
