Centerville council moves Nov. meeting, approves $1,000 easement, advances parking ordinance and interlocal fire pact

The Centerville Town Council on Oct. 28 approved a set of routine actions, including moving its next regular meeting off Veterans Day, authorizing an easement payment, advancing a parking ordinance to first reading and approving an interlocal agreement related to the fire department.
Council President Dan Wandersee called the work session to order at 7 p.m. and confirmed a quorum: Wandersee, Vice President Gary Holbert, and council members Jack Bodiker and David Cate were present; Joshua Tudor was absent. The meeting lasted about 28 minutes and adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
On the agenda, the council agreed to move the next regular meeting from Nov. 11 (Veterans Day) to Monday, Nov. 10, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. The motion to change the date was made by Gary Holbert and seconded by Jack Bodiker and passed on a 4-0 vote.
The council also acknowledged that a party identified as Gillman accepted the town's $1,000 offer for an easement. Council authorized President Dan Wandersee to sign the necessary documents and allowed Ed Martin to assist with the transaction; that motion, made by Gary Holbert and seconded by David Cate, passed 4-0.
Council took the first reading, by title only, of Ordinance 2025-09, which would regulate parking along Water Street between Spruce and Ash streets. The motion to read the ordinance and accept the first reading was moved by Gary Holbert, seconded by David Cate, and approved 4-0. No substantive changes or debate on the ordinance were recorded at the meeting.
The council reviewed an interlocal agreement for fire department services. After Ed Martin and council members reviewed the draft, the body authorized President Wandersee to sign the agreement; the motion, made by Gary Holbert and seconded by David Cate, passed unanimously.
In department reports, Clerk-Treasurer Sarah Rice requested approval for the Annual Turkey Run on Nov. 15, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., using the same route as previous years. The police chief and fire chief raised no objections; the council approved the event on a 4-0 vote, with Jack Bodiker moving and David Cate seconding.
The council shared several community announcements, including Trick-or-Treat on Oct. 31 from 5 to 7 p.m.; a police department food drive on Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; a Fire Department 'Fill the Boot' fundraiser on Nov. 1 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and a Fire Department chicken noodle dinner on Nov. 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. The council adjourned at 7:28 p.m.
