The Lancaster Select Board reviewed the town’s 2026 deeding list May 18 and took a series of motions to either waive deed issuance or direct deeds be issued if properties remain unpaid by the deed date.
Tax Collector Charity Baker presented the list and the board moved through property items sequentially. Motions included waiving deed issuance for Property #1, Property #3, Property #9, Property #10, #16 and several others; motions to issue deeds if unpaid were approved for Properties #2, #4, #5, #6, #15 and #17, among others. All motions were made by Selectman Leon Rideout and seconded by Selectman Shane Beattie and were recorded as carried.
The board discussed two camper properties at Rogers Campground. For Property #11 (a camper believed pulled from the site at the end of the 2023 camping season) the board approved an abatement for Tax Map R17, Lot 043-225. For Property #18, another vacant campsite, the board approved an abatement for Tax Map R17, Lot 43-195. Several properties on the list are in bankruptcy and the town did not send deed notices while bankruptcy is active.
The motions were routine tax-collection actions recorded in the meeting minutes; specific taxpayer names and full legal descriptions beyond the map/lot references were not included in the minutes.
