The Emmet County Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution 26-20 on June 30 to implement requirements of House File 2490, the recent amendment to Iowa's open records and open meetings statutes.
The motion, made by Tim Schumacher and seconded by Todd Glasnapp, passed on a roll call vote with all supervisors voting aye. The resolution directs that the board’s meeting agendas will be posted at the West Administration vestibule bulletin board, the courthouse main doors on the east and south sides, and on the Emmet County website (www.emmetcountyia.gov). It also requires that if an already-posted agenda is amended, the amended agenda must be posted at least 24 hours before the meeting, be labeled "Amended" and identify the provisions changed. The resolution states it will take effect July 1, 2026.
The minutes include the resolution text summarizing the statutory changes made by House File 2490, including adjustments to notice requirements and categories of employment-related information that may be subject to disclosure.
