The City of Montello Public Works Committee on June 11 asked MSA to obtain detailed estimates from Kohnke for all sewer operational costs and discussed potential grant funding and rate comparisons.
Kohnke reported that MSA will collect estimates and that staff are coordinating with the Public Service Commission (PSC) and the Wisconsin River Water Association (WRWA) to compare wastewater operations and PSC water-rate data. Committee members discussed the sewer plant operator position but made no formal staffing decision at the meeting.
Committee members framed the request for cost data as a step to clarify operational budgets and to evaluate grant opportunities; no specific grant awards or timelines were announced. The committee did not vote on staffing changes and directed that the cost estimates and comparison work continue so members could review options at a future meeting.
The item will return for further consideration after MSA and Kohnke present the requested estimates and comparative analysis.
