Fennimore council reallocates $435,044 to Quonset Hut removal, HVAC, playground and diesel plant

A motion by Alderperson Adam, seconded by Alderperson Day, carried 6–0 to move $175,394.08 to the Quonset Hut project, $10,000 for playground replacement at Volunteer Field, $137,650 toward a new HVAC system in the Memorial Building, $100,000 to the Diesel Plant and $12,000 for new carpet in the Memorial Building.
The vote followed related procurement approvals at the same meeting. Council approved purchasing carpet tiles for Memorial Building spaces (Utility Office, DPW Office, Police Office and Council chambers) from Bowden Alexander for $11,494. Council also accepted a bid from H&N Plumbing and Heating to replace the Memorial Building HVAC for $137,650. Separately, the council purchased new playground equipment from Lee Recreation for $32,155. The council’s reallocation vote and the individual vendor approvals each passed on roll call votes of 6–0.
Town & Country Engineering had earlier requested clarification on a Quonset Hut request for proposals; council members asked that removal be complete except for the foundation. The RFP clarification was discussed but no separate RFP award was made at the meeting.
The motions did not specify how any difference between the reallocated playground amount ($10,000) and the later equipment purchase price ($32,155) would be covered.
The actions are part of the council’s broader work approving capital projects and facility maintenance for the coming year; council members said additional details on curb standards and Chapter 5 municipal-code changes will be brought back at future meetings.
The reallocation and related procurement votes were recorded at the March 13 meeting and carried unanimously. The council also scheduled no immediate follow‑up vote on the Quonset Hut RFP at this meeting.
