Town Manager Jessica Cyr told the Select Board on Feb. 2 that the town’s public bond and budget hearings are scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 5, at 6 p.m. She said the auditorium floor has been repaired ahead of the hearing and asked that attendees wear house slippers or use shoe coverings.
Cyr reported she submitted two work requests to Eversource and attended a North Country Healthcare listening session with area nonprofit representatives, including Tri-County Community Action and the Gibson Center; the listening sessions will produce a report, she said. Since the last meeting Cyr said the town awarded $6,029 in welfare assistance—one award for a cremation and six for housing assistance or emergency housing.
On storm recovery finances, Cyr reported a large FEMA project for 2024 repairs was obligated: the town spent $486,024.31 on those repairs and expects to receive 75% reimbursement, about $364,518, on or before Feb. 6. Cyr noted that while the reimbursement will help the town’s finances in 2027 it will not immediately increase the town’s unrestricted fund balance for the current year.
