Council discusses parking enforcement, graffiti cleanup, park repairs, events and sidewalk needs

Woodland Hills councilors used the April 22 meeting to consider public-safety and infrastructure items that affect parks and neighborhood streets.
Commissioner Angel Gillenwater distributed new parking ticket books and described the city's current enforcement practice: tickets are to be issued when at least half of a vehicle is on the grass, with some lenience for holidays or apparent events. Gillenwater also said the police officer who assists the city has been less available recently due to his work schedule and recommended keeping a graffiti-cleanup kit in the municipal garage.
On park maintenance, Commissioner Kristen Hedden said fence repairs for the park have been ordered and the council is awaiting updates on a planned new playground. Hedden asked for volunteers to help with Earth Day cleanup and noted Summerfest is scheduled for Saturday, June 21 from 6:30–9:30 p.m., with the band The Odd Thruople slated to perform. The city-wide yard sale is scheduled for May 9–10 from 8 a.m.–2 p.m.
Commissioner Tim Horton reported infrastructure concerns: a large divot at Davidson and Marengo that may require a concrete repair, a top brick missing from an entrance sign (which Horton repaired), silt buildup at Hardwick and Marengo, and exposed roots around the playground loop that pose a trip hazard. He noted the budget includes $10,000 for sidewalk repairs. Commissioner Heather DeVillier requested that money be allocated under Infrastructure to complete the section of sidewalk on Ridge Crest just before the park entrance; the transcript records the request but no formal vote to reallocate funds was taken.
No public commenters attended the meeting and councilors did not take binding votes on event programming or additional infrastructure allocations during the session.
