Woodland Hills adopts tree ordinance, appoints Tree Board and proclaims Arbor Day

Commissioner Kristen Hedden conducted the ordinance's second reading and Commissioner Tim Horton moved for approval; Commissioner Heather DeVillier seconded and the council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance. The council then approved nominations to the Tree Board: Cary Craycroft, Ellen Sears, Allen Combs, Christy Johnson and Bill Campbell.
The ordinance adoption formalizes the city's tree policy and establishes a citizen board to advise on tree management and preservation. Commissioner Hedden also read and the council approved an Arbor Day proclamation dated April 26, 2025, encouraging community participation in tree-planting and park maintenance activities.
The appointments were approved by unanimous vote; city staff will follow up with onboarding for the newly appointed board members and any administrative steps required by the ordinance.
