Fire Chief Wright told the Union Point City Council on July 8 that he will retire as fire chief effective Oct. 1, 2025.
The chief also outlined two community events: a Back-to-School/Splash Day for children on July 26 from 1–5 p.m. at the fire department, and a flagpole dedication at 10 a.m. the same day for a new pole and flag recently erected in front of the station. The chief did not provide details on succession planning at the meeting.
The council heard the report as part of routine department updates; no formal personnel action was taken during the session.
