Richardson County reviews garage construction quotes and discusses rock stockpiling, milling bids

Steve Darveau Jr., Richardson County highway superintendent, told the Board on July 1 that the county has received the ordered Verdon County garage building and presented two quotes for construction/erection/concrete work: Vice Contracting at $72,097.00 and Froeschl Concrete at $50,000.00. The board decided to review those quotes further at next week's meeting.
Commissioner Rick Karas raised the possibility of stockpiling rock at the Dawson shop and suggested shipping rock by BNSF railcar. Darveau said he preferred to wait until Martin-Marietta provides an update about how long its DuBois quarry will remain closed before committing to deliveries. Darveau also noted the county may need to seek bids for milling on roads.
The board did not take final action on construction quotes or rock stockpiling at the July 1 meeting and directed staff to return with additional information.
