City pursues RIF infrastructure grant — seeks cost estimates and letters of intent before July 13

The contractor working on the community center is expected to deliver cost figures this week so staff can complete the application.
Staff asked council members to collect at least three letters of intent from business owners or prospective lessees to accompany the application; the council member said those letters need to be on letterhead and signed. The proposal discussed included replacing windows, adding insulation and replacing air-conditioning units to reduce an estimated $1,300 monthly power bill for the building.
The council noted that even if awarded, funds typically arrive after a lag and construction costs may rise in the intervening period. The council did not take a formal vote on application authorization at the workshop; staff said they would submit the application and return with formal documents if needed.
