Woodland Hills approves park security system and roughly $58,269 in park and sidewalk repairs

The City of Woodland Hills Commission on July 22 approved several park and infrastructure measures, including the purchase of a park security system and work to repair sidewalks and park paths.
Mayor Killeen presented a security-system proposal for the city park and Commissioner Hedden moved to spend $15,671.63 on the system; Commissioner Horan seconded the motion and it carried. The commission also approved sidewalk repairs and a connectivity addition to the park for $25,919.04 and authorized asphalt repairs on a park path for $15,428.53; both measures were moved by Commissioner Hedden and carried after seconding motions.
Commissioners also addressed tree safety and playground improvements. Hedden moved and the commission approved up to $1,250 to trim or remove a dead tree at Meadow and Willowbrook per the Tree Board's recommendation. Separately, commissioners agreed a tree on Evergreen required immediate removal; Hedden moved to remove the tree and Horan seconded. Hedden said she will purchase mats for under the playground swings; the minutes do not specify their cost.
Killeen told the commission she will apply for an Urban Reforestation Grant with an application deadline of Aug. 1, 2025. Commissioners also noted a missing blade sign at Evergreen and Marengo that will need replacement or repair; no cost was recorded in the minutes.
Taken together, the approved line-item amounts recorded in the minutes total $58,269.20 (security system, sidewalk connectivity and asphalt repairs, plus the up-to-$1,250 tree allowance). The minutes note additional planned purchases (mats, fire rings, a small freezer for Winterfest) without dollar amounts.
The commission's actions were recorded as motions and votes; the minutes list the mover and seconder for each action and note the motions carried. The next regular meeting is set for Aug. 25, 2025.
