Thomas Day Historic Art Walk set for Oct. 15; Thomas Day House under review for state historic-site designation

Karen Williamson of the Caswell Arts Council presented details of the Thomas Day Historic Art Walk, set for Oct. 15, 2022, listing demonstrations, musical performances, vendor locations and children’s activities.
Williamson outlined a schedule of events and sites: demonstrations at High Street Baptist Church, a Senior Clefs choir performance at the Presbyterian Church, crafters’ tents, children’s craft activities, a re-enactment by Fred Motley, an art gallery demonstration and a beer garden with live music. Town staff and commissioners discussed signage and banners to promote the event.
In new business, Mayor Patricia Williams said the Thomas Day Board met Aug. 8 with the N.C. Department of Natural and Cultural Resources to discuss having the Thomas Day House/Union Tavern designated as a North Carolina historic site, which officials described as an exciting prospect for Milton and Caswell County. No formal town action was recorded on that application during the meeting.
Organizers and town staff said they would finalize signage and banner placements in advance of the event; vendors and participants were given deadlines and contacts. The town clerk will attach event information to the minutes.
