Milton schedules June 20 special meeting to finalize FY 2023–24 budget

Finance Officer Sharon Williams presented key budget figures: General Fund revenue projected at $99,700 (up from $86,800 last year), notes about under‑received vehicle tax revenues, sales and use tax receipts, a proposed insurance allocation of $5,500, and a staff recommendation to change a planned transfer to the Water Fund to ARPA support instead. She said an ARPA line item of $50,000 was added per auditor guidance and that Sharon Williams (staff) would make the budget edits.
Discussion also addressed elected‑official compensation: a draft line referencing one board member electing to be unpaid was to be deleted and the governing board salaries were set in draft at $100 per month. The board moved to hold a special meeting on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, at 7 p.m. solely to approve the FY 2023–24 budget; the motion was adopted unanimously.
What’s next: town staff will finalize the budget packet for the June 20 meeting and publish the agenda and materials per town policy. The next regular town meeting remains scheduled for July 11, 2023.
