Montreat council approves routine business, accepts audit and records FEMA reimbursement

The board approved the 2026 meeting schedule (second Thursday of each month with an Audit Committee meeting Dec. 3, 2026) and unanimously reappointed Kathy Putnam and Jean Norris as town representatives to the Landcare Committee for two‑year terms ending Jan. 31, 2028. Town Manager Savannah Parrish presented Budget Amendment #6 to add the FEMA reimbursement to Fund 29; the board approved the amendment unanimously.
The Audit Committee, chaired by Hugh Alexander, presented audited financial statements for the year ending June 30, 2025; the auditors issued an unmodified opinion with three minor compliance findings that have been addressed and reported the general fund increased by over $700,000. The board approved the audit unanimously. The sanitation ordinance review was continued to the February meeting to allow staff to refine outstanding items. The meeting adjourned at 7:46 p.m.
