Council approves sewer repairs, park court conversions, emergency debris monitoring and other routine contracts

At its July 14 meeting the North Miami City Council approved multiple procurement and project items across public works, parks and community services.
Key votes included: - Two sanitary sewer repair contracts: LMK Pipe Renewal LLC for laterals (not to exceed $1.1M) and Atlantic Pipe Services LLC for mainline lining (not to exceed $1.4M). Both awards were described by staff as solicited proposals tied to state and county regulatory timelines; both passed 5–0. - Griffin Community Center courts (Tab H): Council approved a contract with Fast Dry Courts to convert underused shuffleboard courts into one tennis court and two pickleball courts at a cost not to exceed $267,289. The council recorded a 4–1 vote; staff said the courts will be free for residents. - Disaster debris monitoring (Tab L): A five‑year as‑needed agreement with Tetra Tech for debris monitoring was approved (5–0) using Miami‑Dade County’s contract. - Holiday lighting, tutoring program and Brewfest partnership (Tabs M–O): Council approved purchase orders and partnerships for the city’s 2026 holiday lighting program, Sunkist Grove tutoring services, and the North Miami Brewfest partnership with FIU; all passed 5–0. - Updated permit fee schedule and procurement code amendments (Tabs P and Q): Council adopted a revised building-permit fee schedule (staff said residential fees were reduced overall) and amendments to procurement procedures; both were approved on the agenda.
Council members said they expect staff to carry out standard contract oversight and to continue resident outreach on projects. The votes were mostly unanimous, with the pickleball/tennis conversion the only item that drew a single dissenting vote.
