Manasquan — The Manasquan Board of Education on March 11 approved a tentative 2025-26 budget and a slate of routine fiscal items, voting to submit the tentative budget to the Executive County Superintendent and schedule a public hearing for May 6, 2025.
Dr. Peter Crawley, the district’s Business Administrator and Board Secretary, certified that “no line item has been over expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6A:23A-16.10(c)3 and that sufficient funds are available to meet the district’s financial obligations for the remainder of the fiscal year.” The board approved inclusion of the tentative budget for advertisement following that certification.
The tentative budget the board reviewed lists total 2025-26 expenditures of $38,294,245, anticipated revenues of $18,542,987 and taxes to be raised of $19,751,258. The board included line-item adjustments: a $176,117 increase to cover higher health benefit premiums; a $100,000 deposit to the district’s Capital Reserve to fund future turf replacement; a $190,000 withdrawal from Capital Reserve for district-wide abatement and carpet replacement; and a $200,000 withdrawal from Tuition Reserve to meet upcoming tuition obligations. The board directed the Business Administrator to submit the tentative budget to the county in accordance with statutory deadlines.
The meeting also cleared several procurement and contract items. The board approved a three-year pricing agreement with Frontline Technologies for IEP Direct and RTI Direct (2025-26 through 2027-28), contract renewals for waste removal with Waste Management at a monthly rate of $2,526.34, Centurion Printing renewal estimated at $16,595.45, and a transportation renewal with First Student for student-related activities in an estimated amount of $100,000 (with a negotiated CPI maximum of 3.57%).
Donations to the Manasquan Schools Development Fund were accepted: CM3 Building Solutions, Inc. ($200), George & Ruth Harms ($5,000) and Manasquan Bank ($7,500).
The board also approved routine financial reports and bills for March and confirmed bills for February as part of the consent items approved by roll call during the meeting.
Next steps: the tentative budget will be advertised as required by the state and presented at the May 6 public hearing before further action is taken.
