Manasquan Board awards $468,000 boiler-replacement contract, reviews bond-funded renovations

The Manasquan Board of Education voted June 10 to award the Boiler Replacements project for Manasquan Elementary School to Performance Mechanical Corp. for the base bid of $468,000, and heard an update on ongoing renovations funded by a $13,770,000 bond referendum passed in January 2023.

Dr. Pete Crawley, the school business administrator and board secretary, told the board that four bids were received on June 6 and that the district’s counsel and architectural consultant reviewed the submissions before recommending an award to Performance Mechanical Corp. The board resolution states that no alternate work was awarded and directs administrative staff to take all actions necessary to effectuate the contract award.

The board also approved a $50,000 withdrawal from the capital reserve to fund construction and design costs related to the boiler replacements at the elementary school and approved Pay Application #9 from H&S Construction for ongoing renovation work in the amount of $87,680.48.

Board members discussed the broader renovation program during the Superintendent’s goals and facilities report, which noted the district is entering the second year of multi-phase projects expected to continue through the 2025–26 school year. The district’s construction oversight for the current project is being managed in coordination with H & S Mechanical and the district’s design professionals.

The contract award and related budget actions passed as part of the meeting’s consent agenda and were recorded in the roll-call votes taken on June 10. The administration will proceed with contract execution and project implementation as authorized by the board.
