Police report: Palos Park records ~2,615 calls for service in two weeks; traffic enforcement steps ahead of awareness events

Commissioner Polk delivered the police activity report for June 29–July 12, 2026, telling the council that Palos Park law enforcement handled 2,615 calls for service (about 200 per day) during the period. The report listed 26 citizen assists, 17 case reports, seven accident reports, one adult arrest, one vehicle impounded, 186 traffic stops, 30 moving violations, 59 adjudication tickets, and 155 speeding tickets.
Polk said that Palos Park will join the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police and other agencies for Illinois Speed Awareness Day on July 22, with stepped‑up patrols for speeding and other traffic violations. The department will also participate in an Arrive Alive traffic safety initiative on Route 45 from July 16–18 involving more than 300 state, county and local law enforcement agencies.
Polk and Chief Miller described a recently launched joint community night initiative with the Palos Park Fire Protection District, intended to give residents opportunities to meet police and fire personnel and learn about public‑safety topics. Chief Miller said the department would announce plans for National Night Out week and preview events such as Coffee with the Chief, a police community forum and youth safety programming.
