Winter Harbor Selectmen on Aug. 11 authorized repairs to the town’s floats and a dock after officials reported the floats lacked sufficient flotation and the dock was damaged in a collision.
Town Manager Sara J. Liscomb said M. Young can perform the repairs, that she will order the flotation material and that DC Air will pick it up. She also said a local resident, identified as Chris, will remove the floats and return them to his property so the repairs can be completed. The board voted 3-0 to have M. Young fix the floats, repair the dock and add two ladders to the dock.
Selectmen discussed how the current flotation was insufficient to support required loads and noted that the dock needs structural attention after being struck. The authorization does not include a detailed contract in the minutes; the motion approved the work and the use of town funds to procure flotation materials.
The matter will be implemented by the Town Manager and the contracted local worker; the minutes do not specify a deadline for completion or a final cost estimate.
