The board voted to approve Resolution #24-12-10 to adopt the general fund budget and related special revenue fund budgets. County Administrator/Coordinator Dr. Boggs reviewed the proposal at a public hearing opened by Chairman Greg Brodeur; no members of the public offered comments. The board’s Finance and Administration Committee had reviewed departmental requests and revenue estimates prior to the meeting.
The resolution designates the County Coordinator as the chief fiscal officer for the purposes of Michigan’s Uniform Budgeting and Accounting Act and authorizes the Coordinator’s office to make limited budget transfers of up to $6,000 between accounts without prior Board approval. The resolution also requires the Coordinator’s office to present corrective recommendations if actual and probable revenues fall short of estimates or if expenditures threaten to exceed appropriations.
Board members emphasized orderly closeout of 2024 and the start of the 2025 audit. The board approved the motion by roll call vote 7–0.
Next steps: County staff will implement the adopted appropriations, post the budget documents as required, and begin the routine audit and monitoring procedures noted in the resolution.
