The County School Board of Frederick County, Virginia on Tuesday accepted several administrative appointments presented by the division leadership and welcomed the new hires.
Superintendent Dr. Hummer introduced the slate of appointments and asked the board to join in welcoming each new leader. The board publicly recognized Kim Olsen as the new principal of Red Bud Run Elementary; Olsen, who has served four years as assistant principal at Stonewall Elementary and previously taught elementary ESL for 12 years, told the board she is honored and “looking forward to a great school year and the journey ahead at continuing the role of service in Frederick County Public Schools.”
Also introduced were Emily Roy, named supervisor of career and technical education; Eliza Waldman Sisson, appointed assistant director of special instructional services; T.J. Rohrbaugh, named coordinator of student activities at Sherando High School; and Nikki Mungan, appointed assistant principal at Frederick County Middle School. Each appointee addressed the board, thanked the division leadership, and said they looked forward to serving students and staff in their new roles.
The introductions were made in the meeting immediately following a closed session in which the board discussed personnel matters. Separate votes earlier in the meeting approved personnel actions recommended by the superintendent and ratified assistant-superintendent contracts.
The board did not take public comment on the appointments. Next procedural steps announced in the meeting include staff communications to schools and personnel as the new hires prepare to assume their responsibilities.
