Manasquan Board adopts 2024–25 goals, highlights IB expansion, construction oversight and AI review

The Manasquan Board of Education on Sept. 17 adopted a set of Board and district goals for 2024–25 that prioritize teacher professional development, strategic planning and programming goals including expansion of the IB program and continued oversight of major construction projects funded by a $13,770,000 bond referendum.

Board goals call for a steering committee to lead a five‑year strategic planning process and to review last cycle’s outcomes. The high school’s International Baccalaureate program will be a focus for outreach: the board asked administrators to engage families, host informational meetings, update public materials and invite college admissions representatives to discuss IB advantages. The board also emphasized monitoring bond-funded renovations; meeting materials noted the district entered year two of renovations tied to the January 2023 referendum and that projects are expected to continue through the 2025–26 school year.

On technology, the board said it will review recommendations stemming from faculty and administrator focus groups on evolving tools, including artificial intelligence, with an emphasis on preserving academic integrity; possible outcomes include curriculum adjustments, policy revisions or adoption of detection tools.

The board approved the Superintendent’s Report with a unanimous recorded vote (Ayes 10; Nays 0; Abstain 0; Absent 2). Mr. Goodall, Peter Crawley and other administrators briefed the board on goals and next steps for implementation, including construction oversight, strategic planning timelines and who will present subsequent recommendations to the board.
