Manasquan Board approves $4.22 million pay application to H&S Construction as referendum work continues

At its Sept. 17 meeting the Manasquan Board of Education approved Pay Application #4 to H&S Construction, a payment of $4,224,182.20 tied to the district’s ongoing renovation work funded by the $13,770,000 bond referendum voters approved in January 2023.
The motion to approve the Manasquan/Sending District items that included the pay application was made by Alfred Sorino and seconded by Bruce Bolderman. After reconvening from executive session the board recorded a roll call vote of Ayes (9); Nays (0); Abstain (1) William Dibble; Absent (2) Martin Burns and Joseph Milancewich. The approved pay application appears in the consent package as Item #55.
Why it matters: the district’s bond-funded projects remain the principal capital undertaking for the coming school years. Board materials note the referendum projects are expected to continue through the 2025–26 school year; the superintendent and business administrator said they will maintain oversight of construction progress and related procurement.
What was said and who moved it: the motion to approve the post‑executive session consent items (which included the pay application and a related settlement) was made by Sorino and seconded by Bolderman, and the group carried the motion with one abstention by Dibble.
