Jemez Springs planning commission approves minutes, schedules code review for March 19

The Village of Jemez Springs Planning and Zoning Commission met Feb. 24, 2026, at the Josephine Shephard Memorial Building Conference Room. Chair Betsy Daub called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. and the commission adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
The commission certified the agenda as posted under the New Mexico Open Meetings Act and approved the previous special meeting minutes from Jan. 27, 2026 “as corrected,” according to the meeting minutes. The record does not list who moved or seconded the approval, nor a vote tally.
During commission business, Chair Betsy Daub noted resident inquiries including a potential home-occupation application. Commissioner Fred Simmank reported on items from the Feb. 17 Village Council meeting. Daub will attend the Village Trustees’ March 17 meeting as the Planning & Zoning representative.
The commission reviewed Village Code section 130-25 and scheduled a follow-up code-review meeting for March 19, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. All commissioners were directed to email suggested revisions for section 130-25 to the Planning and Zoning Commission by March 16.
There were no guests and no public comments at the meeting. Old business and new business were listed as none in the minutes.
Next steps: the commission will reconvene for the code-review session on March 19, with a March 16 deadline for written suggestions; Chair Daub will represent the commission at the March 17 trustees’ meeting.
