Duneside Discovery Center reports playscape groundbreaking and nature-based learning benefits; special education fishing event recapped

Mary Jane Evink reported that Duneside Discovery Center recently held a groundbreaking in May for a new playscape, and staff continue to develop curriculum and coordinate enrollment. An assigned Duneside ambassador now coordinates supervised walks in Duncan Woods as part of nature-based learning; staff said the approach has coincided with improved student behavior.
Evink also summarized the Special Education Fishing Event held on the channel at the State Park, saying the event went very well. The second day was set aside for self-contained classrooms and both community members and school staff volunteered to support the activities.
