District plans outsourcing, renewal contracts to cut costs; payroll moved to Berrien RESA

MacDonald said payroll services will also be outsourced to Berrien RESA at an estimated cost of $53,000 per year to replace a retiring business‑office employee; he added district staff will continue to monitor the arrangement. Separately, MacDonald reported the district plans to renew WMJ contracts for cleaning and TA services, and that WMJ provided about 50,000 hours across those services — which the district estimates resulted in roughly $450,000 in savings.
The committee did not take formal contracting votes in committee minutes; these items were presented as staff recommendations and will appear in the upcoming Board packet for formal action.
