At its April 13 meeting the Westgate/Belvedere Homes CRA authorized two consulting work assignments to advance planning for two large redevelopment sites: the Cross County Mall and Cross County Plaza.
Under a continuing contract, Schmidt Nichols was authorized for a $27,000 assignment to conduct due diligence and conceptual site planning for the Cross County Mall site, including code research, stakeholder outreach and a conceptual master-block/massing plan. The board approved the work assignment by unanimous vote.
Kimley-Horn and Associates was authorized for a $61,500 work assignment to produce a conceptual traffic performance assessment, conceptual roadway and traffic design assistance, limited civil due diligence (stormwater and utilities), a tree disposition plan and coordination meetings for Cross County Plaza. The assignment, also approved 5-0, is intended to inform planning-level site design that integrates mass transit and circulation considerations.
Why it matters: Both assignments are planning-level steps that will inform master planning and potential redevelopment of major sites in the CRA. The Kimley-Horn scope in particular is intended to surface traffic and civil constraints that bear on site design and feasibility.
Next steps: Consultants will complete deliverables and coordinate with CRA staff; further design, permitting and funding steps will follow as planning advances.
