The Jackson Parish Police Jury voted 6-0, with one member absent, on July 13 to adopt a 2026 tax millage resolution that sets levy rates for several parish funds.
The resolution, adopted after a motion by Lewis Chatham and seconded by Keith Burris, establishes the following rates on the 2026 tax roll: General Alimony, 5.90 mills; Roads & Bridges, 5.60 mills; Roads/Asphalt/Paving, 4.87 mills; Recreation District, 5.07 mills; Health Unit, 0.88 mills; and Library & Bookmobile, 5.00 mills.
Secretary-Treasurer Nia Evans Watkins certified the resolution as a true and exact copy of the action taken; the certificate is dated July 14, 2026. The resolution empowers parish administrative officials to spread the levies on the assessment roll and to collect the taxes according to law.
The roll call on adoption recorded six yeas, zero nays and one absence. No separate ordinance number or resolution number was specified in the meeting record. The jury took no additional related action during the meeting.
The adopted millages will be included on the parish assessment roll for collection in accordance with state law.
