Duarte Unified board confirms multiple administrator appointments, introduces new staff

The chair reported the board had approved the appointment of Sandra Banuelos to serve as principal of Beardsley Academy and Ryan Shoji to serve as assistant principal at Royal Oaks Academy. The board recorded motions and seconds for the appointments; where recorded the motions were moved and seconded by board members as noted during the closed‑session report. The board also approved the appointment of Tracy Armenta as coordinator of mental health and wellness and named other cabinet placements announced at the meeting.
Superintendent Dr. Medrano introduced the new appointees and additional cabinet members onstage following the approvals and invited the board and audience to take photographs. Dr. Medrano identified Meghna Bulsara as the assistant superintendent of business services and Dr. Jack Plotkin as assistant superintendent of educational services. The superintendent said the introductions were an opportunity for the public and staff to meet incoming leaders before the start of the school year.
The board recessed briefly after the introductions to allow community members to speak with the new principals and staff. The personnel appointments were recorded as approved during the meeting’s closed session report and then announced publicly at the open meeting.
