Upper Hanover board approves routine financial measures, easements and community projects

The Upper Hanover Township Board of Supervisors, meeting June 9, 2026, approved several routine financial and operational items, authorized easements related to road and utility work, and approved small-scale maintenance and community disbursements.
Supervisor Ben Fiorito reported that the township purchased a $350,000 certificate of deposit from Univest at a 365-day rate of 4.0%. The board approved previously paid bills and the monthly bills to be paid; motions carried unanimously. The board also approved spending up to $3,763 for rubber playground mats, a manager-authorized maintenance purchase intended to reduce long-term labor and maintenance costs.
Township Solicitor Zachary Sivertsen presented and the board authorized execution of Kerver right-of-way agreements for Kraussdale Road and Route 29. The board also authorized the Township Manager to obtain appraisals for Kings Ward Drive easements needed for drainage improvements and noted the board may consider eminent domain if negotiations do not progress; that motion passed 3-0 with Supervisor Ben Fiorito absent for the vote. Separately, the board authorized the Chairperson to execute an easement in favor of PPL for Palm Hill Road (motion approved 4-0).
Other approved items included up to $2,000 to refresh landscaping at the municipal building and the disbursement of a $925 budgeted contribution to the Upper Perkiomen Rotary Club for the July 4 parade. The board also noted a PennDOT refund of $34,768 for a Winter Maintenance Credit related to state highway winter maintenance; no additional action was required on that item.
Supervisors presented service recognition awards to Eugene Marks for five years on the Zoning Hearing Board and to Sunni Barndt, Pat Dayton, Eve Puhala and JoAnn Redmond for their work restoring Camelot Park Pond. The meeting adjourned at 9:10 PM; the next regular meeting is scheduled for July 14, 2026 at 7:00 PM.
