Council adopts resolution to transfer delinquent refuse charges to county tax roll

Melanie Paz, management analyst in Public Works, presented the annual list of delinquent refuse service charges and the required timeline for notice and final submission to the county. As of July 1 staff reported 425 accounts delinquent totaling about $118,167, down from the previous year’s figures.
The council opened a public hearing, heard from a property owner who presented proof of payment, and then closed the hearing. By motion and roll call the council adopted Resolution 26-27 to assess the listed delinquent amounts to property owners, authorizing staff to transmit the final list to the county for placement on the property tax roll if unpaid by the final date provided in notices.
Mayor Pro Tem Sanchez and other council members noted the decline in delinquencies versus the previous period and confirmed the city’s annual December public hearing process. Staff said property owners will receive a final notice with a July 23 payment deadline; properties remaining unpaid will be sent to the county by August 10 for tax‑roll assessment.
