Brooklet council adopts Comprehensive Plan 2025, OKs infrastructure agreements and equipment purchases

On Feb. 19 the City of Brooklet council unanimously adopted the Comprehensive Plan 2025, approved an IGA with the Bulloch County School District, a GDOT MOA for a Cromley Road sidewalk (local match $134,141.55), authorized a $10,000 easement purchase, and approved police radar and taser purchases.
The City of Brooklet City Council on Feb. 19 unanimously approved a package of planning, infrastructure and procurement items, including adoption of the City of Brooklet Comprehensive Plan 2025 and several intergovernmental and purchasing actions.
Council approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Bulloch County School District for provision of water and sewer services and adopted a Memorandum of Agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation to advance a sidewalk enhancement on Cromley Road (from West Lane Street to Spence Drive). The GDOT MOA requires a city local match of $134,141.55 for preliminary plans, environmental documentation and right-of-way plans; council said the local match will be paid from the T-SPLOST account, which the meeting record shows with a balance of $1,051,053.40. The motion carried 5-0.
Council adopted Resolution #2026-01 authorizing acceptance of a water and sewer easement from Natalie Parish Neville, Wayne Parish Neville and Brantley Rawls Neville and approving a $10,000 payment from the Water/Sewer Construction Fund (motion carried 5-0).
The council approved purchase of four vehicle-mounted radar units from Kustom Signals, Inc. for $10,361 to be paid from the Police Department Technology Fund (balance listed as $28,350.62), and separately approved purchase of four Axon tasers for $34,699.20 to be paid from SPLOST (SPLOST balance listed as $1,745,122.98). Both procurement motions passed 5-0.
Council discussed but did not act on a proposed sanitation truck purchase from Sansom Equipment Company priced at $331,922; the item was deferred to the FY2027 Budget Work Session. Council heard that the sanitation budget has reached 113 percent of its annual allocation and that a budget amendment will likely be necessary.
The council appointed Debra Alexander as Planning and Zoning Chairwoman and named Nathan Nall and Willow Farmer as Planning and Zoning Commissioners for two-year terms (appointments approved 5-0). The council also reviewed staff reports including completed inspections at the Woodsedge subdivision; consideration of acceptance of the subdivision streets was tabled to the March meeting.
An executive session to discuss personnel matters was held under O.C.G.A. § 50-14-3(b); motions to enter and exit executive session were approved 5-0. The meeting adjourned following regular session votes.
