Mayor Pro Tempore Scott Israel opened a public hearing at 6:32 p.m. on July 15, 2024, for an annexation request for Parcel ID 0409064, an 8-acre landlocked parcel. M. Ungaro, town manager, explained the applicant seeks annexation and rezoning to allow a single-family lot and described the parcel’s context: county Agricultural Residential zoning to the north and west and town Residential Agriculture zoning to the east and south. Ungaro told the council the requested town zoning would be consistent with adjacent county and town zoning.
Ungaro stated staff’s preliminary assessment that the annexation and requested rezoning would have no impact on traffic safety or congestion, no increased safety risk from fire or other danger, and would not deter the value of adjacent properties. Because this was a first reading, the council took no action; Ungaro noted the second reading and potential adoption are scheduled for the council’s Aug. 19, 2024 meeting.
No public opposition or additional substantive testimony was recorded in the meeting minutes. The council did not vote on the annexation at this session; staff will prepare materials and public notice for the second reading.
