North Haledon work session lists consent-agenda items including firefighter appointment and OPRA modernization resolution

The consent agenda enumerated 19 items, among them an appointment for a probationary firefighter, vehicle purchases and upfitting for the police department, tax-title and tax-overpayment administrative items, and a resolution calling for the modernization of the Open Public Records Act (OPRA) via S-2930/A-4045.
Specific items listed in the minutes include authorization for a bid withdrawal (D&L Paving Contractors), award of contract for Linda Vista Sidewalk Improvements Phase 1 to Portofino Builders, the appointment of Chase Hadley as a probationary firefighter (resolution on the council meeting agenda), authorization to auction a surplus Dodge Durango from the North Haledon Police Department, approval of raffle licenses, issuance of estimated tax bills, tax-title lien redemptions, refunds for tax overpayments and a disabled-veteran tax-exemption processing request (the Tax Assessor asked that taxes paid since Feb. 23, 2024 be refunded and that the 3rd and 4th quarter taxes be canceled for the now-exempt property).
The work-session minutes also record a letter from Congressman Pascrell supporting the North Haledon Fire Department’s FEMA grant application to purchase radios, and a letter from a property manager (Bozzuto) describing credit and background-check procedures for prospective residents. The Fire Chief submitted an application for a probationary firefighter, and a resolution to appoint that firefighter is placed on the council’s upcoming meeting agenda.
Procedural motions to open and close public comment were carried; no public comments were received. The council scheduled its June meeting for Tuesday, June 18, and adjourned the work session at 8:11 p.m.
